    KELLER CRESCENT'S SUSTAINABILITY EFFORTS GET CERTIFIED

Keller Crescent History Fact Sheet
  • 1885-1895 Captain William H. Keller, a former steamboat captain and officer in the Civil War settled in Evansville and opened a small letterpress printing shop. He advertised himself as a steam book and job printer, bookbinder, and blank book manufacturer.
  • 1914 WWI begins. Keller-Crescent declares, “Our men, our money, our all if need be.”
  • 1941 The U.S. enters WWII. Keller-Crescent flips over to government work producing everything from rifle targets to manuals on how to shoot rifles. With its men at was war, KC is left with a sales staff of two.
  • 1948 K-C formally establishes an advertising agency.
  • Early 1960s In the face of a dying traditional letterpress business, KC institutes a massive retraining program in order to enter the board specialty business, packaging and POP, so as to preserve old letterpress jobs and utilize available skills.
  • 1968 The need for new financial resources is recognized and the sale of Keller-Crescent to American Standard, Incorporated is negotiated.
  • 1979 Keller Crescent is awarded its first CLIO, known as the OSCAR of advertising, for excellence in packaging design.
  • 1986 Top executives at Keller-Crescent purchase the company back from American Standard.
  • 1989-1994 KC moves operations completely into producing pharmaceutical packaging and labels.
  • 1998 Keller-Crescent pioneers the use of vision inspection equipment for labels at its Indianapolis, IN facility.
  • 1995-2000 KC begins implementation of its sophisticated Brandshield technology as a method of thwarting would-be counterfeiters.
  • 2007 Company owners sell Keller Crescent to Clondalkin Group. Clondalkin then initiates the merger of Keller Crescent’s operations with those of Pharmagraphics to create one consolidated “Keller Crescent.” KC goes from having three locations to having six. KC headquarters are moved to the Greensboro, NC facility.
  • Today Keller Crescent remains dedicated to supplying pharmaceutical and healthcare packaging that is defect-free, on-time, and at competitive pricing. Always looking for new ways to satisfy clients, KC continues to invest in the most innovative technology.
