PRESS RELEASE 1 April, 2011 Evansville, Indiana
Evansville, Indiana, April 1, 2011. Keller-Crescent Co., Inc., a Clondalkin Group Company, has received both SFI and FSC chain-of-custody certifications from Bureau Veritas, North America as part of its ongoing environmental responsibility efforts. "As we have all seen, the efforts aimed at SFI or FSC certification allow raw materials to be harvested while assuring that the rights of workers, indigenous communities, and the natural animal habitat remain unaffected," said Ernest Chaplin, Keller Crescent's Vice President of Marketing, "Keller Crescent continues to work to align itself with the needs of the bigger environmental picture on a local, regional, and global level." In general, companies seek certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) with the aim of holding themselves to a higher standard of environmental responsibility. Both organizations work to identify forest products as coming from socially and environmentally responsible forest producers using well-managed, sustainable forest lands. To gain FSC and SFI certification, an organization must be able to prove that its products are traceable to sustainably managed forests. To do this, they must establish approved documentation, tracking, and training procedures audited by an independent third party.
-more- "We are making certain that our supply chain reflects the use of certified forests and that our documentation allows raw materials to be tracked throughout the supply chain, thus creating a sustainability trail detailing the use of responsibly managed forests by companies committed to environmentally and socially responsible forest management," said Chaplin.
